Nasi ambang/ambeng is a Javanese rice dish made up of spiced/fried/gravy chicken, chilli paste, serunding (Malaysian meat floss), vermicelli, tempe (Indonesian fermented soybean cake) and salted fish. It is really popular in Johor but not common in KL. I only discovered it recently in TTDI’s Sunday market. What a lovely discovery! :)

Kuih cara berlauk (savoury cake in cara mould, cooked over a stove). Usually consists of minced meat, shallots, chilli, onions, spring onions. Another tea time favourite.

Putu bambu (cake with palm sugar and coconut steamed in bamboo). This is insanely delicious. Also delicious, it’s putu piring (plate) relative. Mmmmm.

A close up shot of a chrysanthemum drink. I just love how the flowers make it look so much prettier in the packaging (but less so in a mug) so drink it in a nice tall glass just to enjoy the aesthetics! lol.

Pulut udang (coconut and shrimp rolled in glutinous rice, wrapped in banana leaf before grilling) all stacked up. One of Malaysia’s tea time favourites.

BBQ chicken wings! Some stalls are yummier than other but the trick to picking good chicken wings are stalls that smoke up dark, not red ones :) This one is too red (and raw, duh) for my liking. Great photo op but I didn’t buy any from this stall. lol.

Ayam golek (spiced rotisserie chicken). Giving Kenny Rogers Roasters a run for their money. Usually at RM15 for a whole chicken, I like to eat it caveman style :)
